Color & Texture
The client wanted a color scheme that was gender neutral and on the lighter side of the color spectrum. I ended up choosing a combination of teal and blue, fading the two colors into each other in a gradient throughout the site. To accent these colors and give the site more of a luxury feel a white marble texture was used in the background.
For the typography of the site I wanted to mix the serif font Domaine Display Narrow with the sans-serif font Apex New. The overall effect is to create a sense of luxury while still maintaining legibility for body copy.

The homepage of the site evolved over time to better highlight the various verticals of content that Spy offers. Each primary vertical was given it’s own section on the site and with the ability to curate the first extra-wide post in the section. The top of the page is focused on the ‘Daily Dossier’. This section is curated by the editors to highlight the best products and stories from the day.
For the article page I wanted to give the photo more weight by popping it out of the container and giving it a nice drop shadow. Since the website is heavily focused on selling products it made sense for me here to draw the users eye to the featured image. Additional header styles were created for this page which are used when multiple products are featured within one post.
